knitting pattern to make infinity scarf

northern lights

This light-weight snood, cowl or infinity scarf is knitted from lace-weight yarn and is ideal for a cool spring or autumn day.

This knitting pattern for a women's snood or neck warmer is knitted in a pattern known as birch leaf. It's a relatively simple lace-work technique that includes yarn over the needle and knitting stitches together to create a fabric that looks like it's covered in leaves. It is best knitted with a yarn that has some mohair in it.

Because it is knitted in lace-weight yarn it could take a few weeks to complete, but the results are worth it! We used a yarn that self-stripes in a variety of different colours to give an effect that reminds us of the Northern Lights or Aurora Borealis - grey, blue, mauve, purple and green. Beautiful!
